None of the now 76 institutes and facilities of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is exclusively dedicated to industrial cleaning technology, but there are many institutes which, due to their technological orientation, inevitably have to deal with cleaning processes in order to be technologically successful. However, this technological competence hardly has any external impact.
This situation already existed in 2001, which is why Dr. Konrad Wissenbach from the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT started an internal Fraunhofer survey to find out who was actually involved in cleaning processes and who was interested in working together.
This initial contact finally led to the founding of the former Fraunhofer Cleaning Technology Alliance on December 5, 2002. The founding members were the Fraunhofer Institutes FEP, ICT, IGB, ILT, IPA, IPK, IST and IWS.
In 2023, the Fraunhofer- Business Area Cleaning consists of a total of 9 members and offers its competencies in industrial parts cleaning with a wide variety of processes, technologies and solutions for our customers and interested companies from all industries.
In the meantime, the portfolio and bundled knowledge of the members is used to offer the regularly scheduled basic seminar for industrial parts cleaning. In addition, 3 editions of the study on "Market and Trend Analysis in Industrial Parts Cleaning" have already been prepared and offered. They present a broad insight into the trends and topics as well as current issues of leading companies in industrial parts cleaning.
