As in previous years, the lecture "Cleaning Principles and Technologies for Surface Treatment and Conservation" at the University of Applied Sciences for Engineering and Economics Berlin (HTW) began on November 27, 2025, for the winter semester 25/26. Our FRei member Frank-Holm Rögner imparts his valuable knowledge about cleaning principles and modern cleaning processes to students in the master's program "Conservation and Restoration" in the Department of Design and Culture.
The course covers theoretical understanding of the principles of surface cleaning, as well as the variety of methods and specific considerations when applied to historical objects.
Additionally, as part of this lecture, an excursion to Fraunhofer FEP will be organized for the students in January 2026. Here, they can supplement their theoretical knowledge with practical experiences in cleaning processes on their own historical objects and try out various cleaning methods and analytical techniques.
We are very pleased with Frank-Holm Rögner's renewed teaching position and are already looking forward to the excursion to Dresden!
