FFRei member Gaby Gotzmann traveled to Darmstadt and participated in the Containment Expert Forum from February 24–25, 2026. There, she attended numerous presentations, engaged in professional discussions, and gained practical insights within the containment community. Gaby Gotzmann’s goal at the expert forum was to test the suitability of her current research with Linda Steinhäußer on cleaning and hygiene technologies for pharmaceutical applications.
The forum also gave her valuable insight into the industry and its challenges. It quickly became clear that cleanability and the requirements for cleaning processes are often not considered until very late in the process. According to Gotzmann, this often stems from a lack of communication between plant manufacturers, process developers, and users.
Her personal highlight was the exclusive plant tour at Merck KGaA integrated into the forum. Here, participants were able to visit the brand-new Launch & Technology Center at Merck’s corporate headquarters and take a look behind the scenes.
